🏙️ About the Game

You are Gutterborn. The lowest in society within the city of Ferradon. One day, you inherit a run-down, empty apartment in a bleak city still recovering from a civil war.
No furniture. No colour. No comfort. No one waiting for you.

This is a grounded, gritty life-simulation about starting at the bottom and slowly building stability in a city that doesn’t care if you fail. To survive, and eventually thrive, you’ll need to work, manage your basic needs, form friendships, and restore both your apartment and your sense of purpose.

There’s no instant success here. Progress is slow, personal, and earned.

đź’Ľ Work & Survival

To make money, you’ll need to find a job and head out into the city.
Each job features its own unique mini-game, and how well you perform partly depends on how well you take care of yourself.

You must manage core survival stats:

  • Hunger

  • Hydration

  • Hygiene

  • Happiness

Neglect them, and life becomes harder. Low happiness hurts job performance, poor hygiene damages relationships, and ignoring your needs can spiral into long-term problems. Survival comes first, success comes later.

đź§Ť City Hub & NPCs

The city acts as a living hub filled with NPCs following daily routines in a tense, post-war environment.

You can:

  • Talk to characters and slowly build friendships

  • Accept favours that become side quests

  • Unlock opportunities through trust and familiarity

NPCs remember your actions. Some people don’t get along, political history and personal grudges still linger from the war. Friendships are the emotional core of the game, with romance intentionally coming later in development.

🛠️ Urban Salvaging & Restoration

Work isn’t your only source of income.

Search alleys and streets for broken, discarded, or forgotten items. Bring them back to your apartment workshop to:

  • Repair and restore them

  • Use them yourself

  • Sell them for profit

Your apartment includes an empty workshop room that you’ll gradually fill with crafting stations, tools, and storage. As your skills improve, restored items become more valuable, and your living space slowly transforms from hopeless to livable.

🌙 Nighttime Dangers

Ferradon isn’t safe after dark.

  • Thugs may attempt to rob you in the streets, you can fight back

  • Sleeping carries a risk of your apartment being burgled

  • Craft or purchase home defenses to reduce the danger

Crime is calculated and situational. Time, location, and preparedness all matter.

🍺 Addiction System (Planned Feature)

Alcohol, smoking, and drugs can temporarily boost your stats, but repeated use creates dependency.

Rely on them too much, and your happiness becomes tied to those habits.
Quit suddenly, and happiness drains faster.
Indulge carelessly, and long-term consequences follow.

Short-term relief can sabotage long-term stability.

Friendships (Coming Later)

As development progresses, you’ll be able to:

  • Befriend certain NPCs

  • Have them move in with you

  • Experience the benefits and complications of shared living

These systems will build on the friendship mechanics rather than replace them.
